Grant Status


First Reading of FY 2013-2014 Budget
Columbia City Council will give first reading to the proposed FY 2013/2014 budget on Tuesday June 4, 2013 during the regular scheduled meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. In addition to first reading of the budget, City Council will give first reading to the proposed rate and fee increases for Parks & Recreation facility rentals and other recreation programs and first reading of the Hazardous Materials Cost Recovery and Registration ordinances.

City of Columbia to Co-Sponsor the Palmetto Concert Band Presentation: A Memorial Tribute
This Sunday, May 26th, is the 15th Annual Memorial Sunday concert by the Palmetto Concert Band. It will be held at the Koger Center for the Arts, located at 1051 Greene Street. The City of Columbia and USC want to treat the public to a family-friendly concert for which there is no admission charge.

MONDAY’S

Starts at 6:15 pm from Outspokin’ @ 3223 Devine. 

Pace:  12-15 mph

Distance:  12-15 mi

No one gets left behind.

 

TUESDAY’S


The Brennan Ride

Team BCBS/Perez Peddlers ride most Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.
Leave from Brennan Elementary promptly at 6 p.m.  
Pace is fast – 21+ mph.  Ride is out and back to Ft. Jackson thru Gate 1 on Ft. Jackson Blvd.  Must have ID and helmet to enter Ft. Jackson

The Tuesday Evening Triangle City Ride

Start: 6:30 pm from the parking lot behind the Sewing Center – which is near the intersection of 12th St. & C Avenue in Triangle City
Pace:  3 groups – easy, intermediate and difficult – rides vary in speed and distance


WEDNESDAY’S

Summit Cycle Wednesday
Ride -
Summit Cycles – 462-0380

 

Leaves from Summit Cycles located at 10171 Two Notch at 6:30 pm.

Join one of 3 groups depending on your riding capability

Distance & Pace:  Range from 15-30 miles and 12-25 mph

Starts at Outspokin’ Bikes at 3223 Devine St. at 6:15 pm.

They offer easy, intermediate and difficult ride options.

 

FRIDAY’S

CYCLE CENTER FRIDAY NIGHT RIDE - 256-0557 or info@cyclecenter.com

 

Leaves each week from Cycle Center in Five Points on Harden St. at 6:30 pm.  Ride is out and back to Ft. Jackson.  Road Bikes ONLY – Moderately Hilly Pace 16 mph – no drop.  AGAIN, Must have ID and helmet for admission on Post.

 

LAKE CAROLINA FRIDAY NIGHT RIDE Summit Cycles – 462-0380

“The Big Easy” Ride
TownCenter at  Lake  Carolina at 6:30 p.m. 
Pace:   14 to 15 mph pace and no one is left behind. 
Beef ‘O Brady’s after the ride to eat and socialize.
Please wear helmets and bring tubes, etc, for repairing a flat tire.  Riders of all levels participate on this ride and offer assistance to others with mechanical problems, etc.

Friday Evening Lake Murray Road Ride out by beautiful Billy Dreher Island State Park
 
Start Time:   Every Friday at 6:30 p.m. (April through October)
Location:     Buckaroos Restaurant and Marina
Address:      1701 Dreher Island Rd, Chapin, SC 29036, (803) 345-5200
Parking:      Park at the marina.
Pace:          All riders are welcome. Pace is comfortable, moderate or fast. No drop ride. We will come back for you.
Route:        22 miles around Holland's Landing, Macedonia Church and Billy Dreher Island State Park.  
A shortcut at step 7.5 that knocks off about 3 miles.
 
Cycling Fellowship:  Meet afterwards at the Buckaroos Restaurant and sit out back on the lake side patio for eats, drinks and laughs.  
Buckaroo reserves a table for the cyclists in front of live entertainment. Some non-cycling family members and friends will join at the restaurant after the ride.
 
Directions from Columbia
Along the way, there are a number of brown “ Billy Dreher Island State Park" signs as guides. The Marina is on the left before the bridge before State Park road that goes left to Billy Dreher Island
 
1.  I-126 to Greenville/Spartanburg ( See State Park Sign)
2.  Take exit 91 and go left over the overpass to Chapin ( Columbia Ave) 2.1 mi
3.  Turn left at Amicks Ferry Rd at the dead end   207 ft
4.  Turn right at traffic light at Chapin Rd/US-76 0.3 mi (See State Park Sign)
5.  Turn left at St Peters Church Rd 3.6 mi   (Turn left after Hardies) (See State Park Sign)
6.  Turn left at Dreher Island Rd 2.2 mi   (See State Park Sign)
7.  Buckaroo is on the left before the bridge.
 
Out and Back Ride Route to Dreher Island.  About 22 miles.
1.  Left onto Dreher Island Rd from Marina.
2.  Right at Macedonia Church Rd.
3.  Left at Holland's Landing Rd.
4.  Right at Marina Way.  Steer right to the marina and circle back up Marina Way.
5.  Left at Holland's Landing Rd.
6.  Right at Granny Hill.
7.  Right at Macedonia Church.  Steer right to the tip and circle back up Macedonia Church road.
8.  Right at Dreher Island.
9.  Right at State Park.  Steer right to the tip and circle back up State Park.
10. Right at Dreher Island.
11. Right onto Buckaroos.
7.5 Short cut to make it about 18 miles. Right at Doc Fulmer when on Macedonia Church road after circling back.  Right at State Park. Go to the tip and circle back. Right at Dreher Island.
 
Routes are very flexible with several possible shortcuts.  New routes are welcome.

SATURDAY’S


The “Saturday Ride” from DUTCH FORK MIDDLE SCHOOL

EVERY Saturday Cyclist Riding for a Cause or Team CRC & others -- start from Dutch Fork Middle School @ 0700 and 0800.  These are friendly folks going a variety of speeds and distances.

0830 Registration with prompt 0900 Start Time for 53 mile Long Loop.  Short Loop of approximately 25 miles to start shortly after Long Loop Start.
