The Mayor and the six members of City Council are elected to staggered four year terms. The mayor and two council members are elected at-large and four members are elected from districts. Elections are held in the Spring of even numbered years.

The Mayor and Council make policy and enact laws, rules and regulations in order to provide for future community and economic growth. Additionally, the Council provides the necessary support for the orderly and efficient operation of City services.

City Council Meetings:
The Columbia City Council will hold an Executive Session discussion at 11:00 a.m. and a Work Session discussion at 1:00 p.m at City Hall located at 1737 Main Street  In addition, City Council will conduct a District III Evening Meeting at 6:00 p.m. at South Kilbourne Elementary School located at 1400 South Kilbourne Road.
