City Councilman Daniel J. Rickenmann was first elected to Columbia City Council in 2004 and re-elected in 2008.  He and his wife Laura have two daughters.

Rickenmann is a South Carolina native and attended high school at the Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia.  He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

 

As a private business owner, he currently owns a fine dining establishment(MoMo’s) and is a partner in real-estate ventures in Columbia and has recently created two new ventures,Transworld Partners (a consulting partnership specializing in overseas relations) and Waste2Energy, llc (a waste to value) venture with Green Energy Partners.

 

 Rickenmann serves on numerous community boards including the Children’s Hospital, the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation, past chair of the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Tournament, past member of the Shandon Methodist Church Property Committee, Devine Street Merchants Task Force and a founding member of the Columbia Opportunity Resource (COR) Committee.  COR focuses on promoting civic and community involvement through political, social and cultural education, communication, development and action.

 

Rickenmann received the distinguished honor of being named to The State ( Columbia’s daily) newspaper’s 2006 “20 under 40” list of young achievers.  “20 Under 40” recognizes the accomplishments of young business leaders in Columbia who are molding the economic future of the city and the local region.

 

 Rickenmann also was selected as one of 25 U.S. participants for his outstanding professional and personal achievements to the 2006 Young Leaders’ Conference held by the American Swiss Foundation in Zurich Switzerland.
