HOUSING OPPORTUNITES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS (HOPWA)
The HOPWA program addresses the needs of low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families by providing emergency and permanent housing assistance and related supportive services. The HOPWA entitlement amount for FY 2008-09 is $1,138,000 for the City of Columbia and the surrounding six counties of Calhoun, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Richland, and Saluda.

All City of Columbia HOPWA grant awards are made through a competitive application process based on client needs, gaps in service, and ability of the agency to successfully implement the program.
