Register Now For the Parks & Recreation 2010 Summer Program
Registration is now being accepted at all participating locations and the Parks and Recreation administration office, 1932 Calhoun Street. Summer camps begin on June 1st. The cost is $45 per week per child and there are no registration fees. Click the link above for more information.

Eleven cities from across the United States have been named Best Places to Retire and Row in the United States by The Rower’s Almanac. These cities reflect the geographic spread of rowing and multitude of options for rowers and scullers who want to continue the sport in retirement. Rowers seeking to retire in a progressive urban area will find Columbia, South Carolina an attractive option.

The City of Columbia is now accepting grant applications for the 2010-2011 year for Hospitality Tax, Accommodations Tax, and Community Promotions Funding.

Daylight Saving Time begins

The Environmental Health Division's mission is to enforce the health ordinances of the City of Columbia and investigate requests for services. In addition, the division is responsible for spraying for mosquitoes, larviciding low and swampy areas and poisoning rodents in sewer mains and storm drains throughout the city. These ordinances pertain to such health concerns as rodent control, preventive maintenance for mosquito control, nuisance complaints and litter and solid waste control.  For more information, click here.
