| | | | | << Back To Listing | | | | Job Title: | TELECOMMUNICATOR (PART-TIME) | | Pay: | $13.90/PER HOUR | | Nature of Work | | The purpose of this position is to receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls in the City's Central E-9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center; to dispatch and process calls requiring emergency actions by EMS, Fire, Police and Sheriff Departments, and for receipt, transmitting, dispatching and processing radio and telephone messages, including routine EMS, Fire, Police and Sheriff reports and requests for information. | | | | Qualifications: | | Graduation from high school, vocational school or GED with one (1) year working experience in a fast paced emergency communications environment for a law, fire or EMS agency operating computer terminals and handling Emergency 9-1-1 calls for services, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. | | | | Special Requirements: | | TYPING TEST REQUIRED. Selected applicant must have the ability to type. Preference may be given to applicant who posses and maintain a valid SC Class "D" Driver's License and have acceptable driving record. Must have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office 2000 preferred, utilizing word processing software programs. Must successfully complete a minimum of two (2) of the required certification for NCIC Certification or S.C. Law Enforcement E-911 Certification. May be required to complete additional training and certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor. Must have excellent communications skills and be able to speak clearly and distinctly. As emergency personnel must have available transportation and must be assessable by phone all hours and may be called into work additional hours as may be needed and during emergencies. | | | | Special Notes: | | Shift work to include holidays, nights and weekends. | | | |
