Job Title: ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER (DESIGN)
Pay: $56,662 / ANNUAL
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to administer the operations of the Design Group within the Engineering Division. This group includes design engineers and cadd technicians and is primarily responsible for design, development, review and/or coordination of City capital improvement projects, and to perform related professional, administrative and supervisory work as required. This class works within broad policy and organizational guidelines and does independent planning and implementation, reporting progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings. Work requires supervision of subordinate professional engineering, technical, and administrative personnel in the design, analysis, construction, and inspection of various engineering projects.
 
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with six (6) years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience in planning, organizing and directing activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of safety; or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
 
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office preferred, utilizing Outlook, word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Must possess and maintain a PE (Professional Engineering) Certification. May be required to work additional hours, as needed, in order to accomplish assigned work.
