First Reading of FY 2013-2014 Budget
Columbia City Council will give first reading to the proposed FY 2013/2014 budget on Tuesday June 4, 2013 during the regular scheduled meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. In addition to first reading of the budget, City Council will give first reading to the proposed rate and fee increases for Parks & Recreation facility rentals and other recreation programs and first reading of the Hazardous Materials Cost Recovery and Registration ordinances.

Job Title: WASTEWATER PLANT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I
Pay: $28,919 - $37,595/ANNUAL
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work in the inspection, maintenance and repair of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and/or sanitary sewer lift stations, and related equipment and facilities, and to perform other skilled and semi-skilled work as required.
 
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school, vocational school, or GED with one (1) year of work experience in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and/or maintenance in collection systems and/or wastewater treatment.
 
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain or be able to obtain a valid SC Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within nine (9) months from date of hire or promotion and have an acceptable driving record. Must possess and maintain or be able to obtain a Journeyman’s License or complete an apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, maintenance, or instrumentation within four (4) years from date of hire or promotion. Must possess and maintain or be able to obtain a Level “D” Biological Wastewater certification within two (2) years from date of hire or promotion. Must possess and maintain or be able to obtain American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification within six (6) months from date of hire or promotion. Selected applicant must pass a respiratory physical in compliance with OSHA Regulation 1910.134 Section (b). Preference may be given to applicants who have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office preferred, utilizing Outlook, word processing, spreadsheet and data base software programs as well as data entry skills. Required to be on-call as needed.
 
Special Notes:
May be required to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, emergency situations, etc., as needed in order to accomplish assigned work. Preference may be given to applicants who have maintenance proficiency on equipment associated with wastewater treatment.
