Job Title: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
Pay: $56,662/Annual
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to design and manage the City’s existing and new network and application technologies; to develop and maintain operating and security policies and procedures; to supervise a team of system administrators and support staff, and to perform related professional and technical work as required.
 
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in computer science, network engineering or closely related field with eight (8) years work experience in supervising, instructing, planning, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, assisting with the selection of new employees, recommending employee discipline; planning and implementing new network and application technologies, maintaining documentation and maps of network topology and configuration, establishing and maintaining network security and access policies; monitoring local-area network, wide-area network and network application availability and performance, managing internet access connectivity, security and services; or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
 
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office 2003/2007 preferred, utilizing Outlook and all associated software programs, as well as skill in CCNA, Network+, CCNT, MS server 2003, VB, Perl and PHP Scripting. Requires hands-on experience with CISCO’s product line of switches, routers, firewalls and security equipment. Hands-on experience is required with IP address management, network protocols and services, using monitoring and packet/protocol analysis tool sets. Requires hands-on knowledge of intrusion detection and DMZ management, as well as hands-on knowledge of VPN, remote and wireless services and connection protocols; knowledge of VMware and Unix a plus. Must be fluent with TCP/IP and Net protocols. Must be able to work overtime as needed in order to accomplish assigned work. Will be required to provide twenty-four (24) hour maintenance support on a rotating on-call basis
