With all of today’s concerns which impact your quality of life in the City of Columbia and throughout the nation, I am grateful that you are taking the time to increase your awareness of the services available to you .

 

      The mission of the Department of Homeland Security for the City of Columbia is to prepare for, mitigate, and aid in the orderly recovery of natural and man-made disasters, as well as provide security for critical infrastructure and engage the citizens of Columbia in a coordinated effort to improve the overall quality of life in its communities . 

   

                                                        
                                                                      Harold L. Reaves
 

               Director Harold Reaves is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He also holds certifications in Homeland Security Level 5 through the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security. He is a graduate of the 104th Class of the Southern Police Institute Administrator’s Officers Course and currently serves on the National Board of the Southern Police Institutes Alumni Association . He also serves as a member of the South Carolina Joint Terrorism Task Force. Director Reaves has served the citizens of Columbia since 1986 when joining the Columbia Police Department. He progressed through the Police Department to the rank of Captain prior to assuming the responsibility as Director of the Homeland Security Department.
