Mayor Coble to Speak at Greater Columbia Community Relations Council 46th Annual Luncheon
The Greater Columbia Community Relations Council (CRC) will hold its 46th Annual Luncheon on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 12:30p.m. to 2:00p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street. Mayor Bob Coble will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon. Tickets for this event are available to the public at the cost of $35 per person and must be purchased in advance by contacting the CRC office at 803.733.1130.

The City of Columbia is now accepting grant applications for the 2010-2011 year for Hospitality Tax, Accommodations Tax, and Community Promotions Funding.

Golf Driving Range - First Tee 

The James E. Clyburn Golf Center located 2091 Slighs Avenue is open year round to the general public. The Golf Center has a driving range, chipping/putting practice area, green with a bunker, instruction area with an additional putting green, and classroom for educational sessions. 

The First Tee of Columbia

The James E. Clyburn Golf Center is also home of The First Tee of Columbia. Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing affordable learning facilities and education that promotes Character Development and Life Enhancing values through the game of golf.

First Tee sessions are held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 5 to 7; and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 8-18. *Golf ball sales end one hour before closing. Chipping and putting greens will be open for “short game” practice for adults.

Ladies Day Golf Program

Tuesday is Ladies Day from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. This free program is designed to assist ladies of all ages with the complete development of their golf game.

 

Adult Instruction

The James E. Clyburn Golf Center is fully equipped to handle group and individual instructional sessions. The highly qualified staff is experienced in all areas of golf instruction.

 

Driving Range Hours: Ball sales end one hour before closing.

 

Fall/Winter                      Mon-Fri        11a.m.-7p.m. 

 

Spring/Summer              Mon - Fri      11a.m.-9p.m.

April 6 - October 31          Saturday     10a.m.-6p.m.

 

The James E. Clyburn Golf Center is closed on Sunday and holidays.

 

GOLF CENTER RULES  

Ø       Take practice swings and hit range balls only in areas designed by yellow ropes.

Ø       Leave all balls and tees forward of yellow ropes for Golf Center staff to retrieve.

Ø       Wear appropriate attire: soft spikes or tennis shoes, no tank tops, no cut-offs, no short shorts or bare midriffs. Shirts shall remain tucked inside pants or shorts.

Ø       Pants shall be worn at waist level and be secured by a belt when necessary.

Ø       Observe good golf etiquette and safety.

Ø       No profanity or horseplay will be allowed.

Ø       Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
