Mayor Coble to Speak at Greater Columbia Community Relations Council 46th Annual Luncheon
The Greater Columbia Community Relations Council (CRC) will hold its 46th Annual Luncheon on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 12:30p.m. to 2:00p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street. Mayor Bob Coble will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon. Tickets for this event are available to the public at the cost of $35 per person and must be purchased in advance by contacting the CRC office at 803.733.1130.

The City of Columbia is now accepting grant applications for the 2010-2011 year for Hospitality Tax, Accommodations Tax, and Community Promotions Funding.

Bridge Closure and Repair Notification
The SC Department of Transportation will be repairing the bridge located on Firelane Road. The bridge will be closed on February 16, 2010, for approximately 6 weeks. The new bridge should be reopended to traffic by March 26, 2010 depending on delays due to weather conditions, fabricator delays, etc. Click the link above to download a map of the detour route. This forum will be held at the Eau Claire Print Building (3907 Ensor Avenue). The forum will be moderated by WISTV News Anchor, Judi Gatson, and will be broadcasted live on WISTV. Central Midlands Partners to Host Fourth Annual Lawn Mower Exchange
Richland County, Lexington County, the City of Columbia, USC, SC DHEC and Keep the Midlands Beautiful have teamed up to host the fourth annual Central Midlands Lawn Mower Exchange on Saturday, April 10th from 9:00 am to noon at the Colonial Life Arena Parking Lot (Corner of Greene St and Lincoln St).

Residents of Richland and Lexington Counties are invited to “Mow Down Pollution” by trading in a gasoline-powered lawn mowers in exchange for a deep discount on the purchase of an environmentally friendly, cordless electric mower from Neuton and help promote cleaner air in the Midlands.
