2014 SC Green is Good for Business Conference
Recycling is good for the environment, but it also creates a $13 billion economic impact in our state, as evidenced by the 2014 S.C. Recycling Industry Economic Impact Study. At the September 30 South Carolina Green is Good for Business Conference, leading recycling industry players will participate in a dynamic keynote panel to explore how recycling is making treasure out of trash in the Palmetto State.

Registration Period Open for Coed Adult Volleyball League
The City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the 2014 Adult Volleyball League. Men and women ages 18 and older can participate in this coed volleyball league. The fee to participate is $150 per team. The last day to register is October 31. The Adult Volleyball League season begins Monday, November 10, 2014.
City Receives Major Transportation Grant
Congressman James E. Clyburn announced on September 9th that the City of Columbia will receive will be receiving a highly sought after Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant, worth $10,000,000, will provide funding to the city’s Seamless City Revitalization Project to revitalize a 1.27-mile portion of North Main Street between Anthony and Fuller avenues in support of the City of Columbia’s extensive downtown streetscaping initiative.
Parks & Recreation Department Announces Youth Winter Basketball Registration Period
The Youth Winter Basketball league for boys and girls ages 9 - 17 was designed to give all youth an opportunity to play in this citywide league. The fee to participate is $25 per person.
