The Columbia-Richland 911 Communications Public Education Program began as a result of a merger between the City of Columbia and Richland County emergency communications departments. As an organization, we try very hard to provide the highest level of quality emergency communications to all citizens. To ensure that our user agencies and citizens better understand our purpose, we are actively involved in neighborhood community organizations and community outreach programs.
Promotes understanding of communications through educating and elevating the awareness of the emergency 9-1-1 purposes and process. The overall mission of the Public Education Unit is to:
Serve as a liaison between the community and the departments.
Assign Communications staff to attend special events and meetings.
