Mayor Steve Benjamin and City of Columbia representatives will plant wildflower seeds at the intersection of Main Street and Elmwood Avenue at 11:00 am today, Friday, March 27.
The wild flowers are a part of the City’s ongoing Gateway Project. The seeds will be for dwarf sunflowers and zinnias. When in bloom in several months, the flowers will greet visitors and residents entering the city from either Sunset Drive/North Main or Elmwood Avenue with color and beauty. Equally, the flowering plants are being planted to instill hope, happiness and renewal, during a time that is difficult for us all.
